Recently, people in growing numbers show their concern about selecting courses. In some colleges, students are permitted to pick out their courses professors freely. The reasons are listed as follows:
In the first place, students can choose the teacher according to their interests, which will be helpful for their future careers. Besides, selecting courses can reduce the rate of students absence indirectly for students usually choose their favorite teachers.
As far as I am concerned, every coin has two sides. On the one hand, students may learn the course better, because they may choose the professor they liked. On the other hand, if the professor who is very popular and a great number of students would like to attend his/her course, the classroom must be overcrowded. It will have a bad impact on the class.
With the development of information techno1ogy and reduced price of communication products, the mobi1e phone has become a necessity for most people. Obviously, it shortens the distance between people and makes our life more convenient. Thanks to it, it’s easy for us to contact or be contacted by others anytime and anywhere. We will never miss any important meetings，great deals or admirable opportunities。But，have you noticed sometimes the mobile phone also brings embarrassment to us? It is a common phenomenon that a large number of students are pursuing success with a wrong belief that there exists a shortcut to learning. The picture given reveals this fact in an ironic way. We can easily notice from the cartoon that a student is asking the teacher in the library how to achieve accomplishment in school without studying, while the teacher is pointing to the fiction section to tell him to work hard.
Learning is actually a painstaking process in which both students on campuses and employees of working agencies are struggling to acquire knowledge by sparing great efforts. On the contrary, some people in today’s society aim at studying without hard work, following the so-called “shortcut” ways. From my own perspective, there is no shortcut in the way to learn. First and foremost, learning or obtaining knowledge is based on the accumulation step by step. The famous saying that Rome is not built in one day teaches us that no goal is achieved without persistence and accumulation. In addition, the shortcut to learning is extremely appealing to those who are unwilling to spend time and energy studying because they might win by a fluke. However, students advocating the shortcut is unlikely to win every time. Last but not least, the fickleness and negative attitudes towards exams are responsible for the widespread trend of the shortcut belief, and it surely lead to the failure of study to some students. Taking a look around us, we can find that many agencies and people believe in the prediction of the exams, and students may be indulged in the so-called perditions and pay no attention to studying hard.
As has been mentioned, learning without hard work tends to be useless and meaningless, for students cannot have a great chance to grow into all-round intellectuals. The picture makes us college students aware of the great significance of true skill and genuine knowledge. The population on earth is increasing rapidly, and with the developmcnr of modern industry, more and more people are flowing into cities. So, the housing problem in big cities is becoming more and more serious.
There have been many suggested solutions to this problem. And Im in favour of the idea of building satellite cities in suburbs. The fresh air and beautiful scenery will attract people to leave the overcrowdedcity. With many people leaving the city, more space will be available for those remaining. Meantime, I dont think developing to the underground will help solve the problem. I can hardly imagine that people will like to live under the ground, withoul the sky and the sun. It will make people feel totally uncomfortable.
The building of satellite cities is a good way to solve the housing problem. It will not only relieve the burden on the big city, but also provide a much better environment for people to live. Of course, there is no perfect way to solve the problem. The housing problem is very complicated, involving many other problems such as traffic, you cannol rely on one way to solve the problem completely.

How to Improve Students’ Physical Well-being?
Recently, there have been some reports on freshmen getting military training. But the focus is on the negative side. Some students fainted because they couldn’t stand the training. In the final analysis, this results from the poor physical well-being of the students.
Two factors can be found out to explain this. Firstly, students have been preoccupied with their study in high school, as the goal of getting admitted by a university is just too huge. So they could not spend time in physical exercise. Secondly, students are not aware of the fact that they are not as strong as theythink. They believe that they are still young and it’s not necessary to worry about their health condition.
Now it is high time that students improved their physical well-being by doing more exercise and adopting healthy living styles.

The shortage of housing is one of the most serious problems facing many big cities in China. Two generations sharing one room and newlymarried couples finding it difficult to have a house of their own are still common cases. Housing shortage is a problem that requires an immediate solution.
People's attitudes towards the solution to the housing problem are different. Some suggest building more tall apartment buildings; others believe that we should develop underground housing areas. I am in favour of the former opinion. For one thing, it is cheaper to build upward than downward. For another, living underground for a long time will do harm to people's health. Above all,people are unwilling to live underground with artificial lighting and they prefer to live normally on the ground to enjoy the sunshine.
Although there may be some other ways to solve the housing shortage problem, I believe to build more apartment buildings is one of the feasible solutions to the housing problem.
